Peas are a sustainable source of soluble protein, starch and dietary fiber. Reasons for sustainability include being compact for transportation, and requiring minimal irrigation while growing. Peas also excel as a rotational crop due to their agronomic benefits. The yellow pea contains 50% Starch, 25% Proteins and 15% Fiber.
Protein Isolate is high in nutritional value and is suitable for human and animal consumption, which is gaining in popularity and therefore value. The Pea Protein is dried in a Three Stage Spray Dryer.
Pea Starch is dried in an open cycle Flash Dryer.
Pea Solubles is concentrated in an evaporator using dryer vapor from the Fiber Dryer and Electricity (Mechanical Vapor Recompression). The Pea Fiber and Solubles can be sold wet or sent to the Fiber Dryer for drying.
Pea Fiber is blended with the Pea Solubles concentrated in the evaporator and is dried in a Ring Dryer. For higher energy efficiency, a partially closed circuit drying technology can be used.
